Biography
Elias Vasquez, a Los Angeles-based professional drummer and percussionist, began his musical journey in Ventura County, turning his childhood passion into a career at age 18. In 2012, he attended the Jazz Performance Program at Cal State Northridge, playing in the award-winning “A” Band. Upon graduating, he began touring with Londan-based pianist Anthony Strong where he played at the Hollywood Bowl for the Playboy Jazz Festival.
Versatile in genres from Rock, Afro-Cuban, Jazz, Funk and R&B, he regularly plays and records multiple styles and learned from industry legends including Gregg Bissonette, Alex Acuña, Gene Coye, Al Velasquez Jr., and Walfredo Reyes Jr. He is endorsed with Istanbul Mehmet Cymbals and works closely with DW Drums founder Don Lombardi.
Currently, he is also Resident Instructor at Drum Channel, where he teaches, makes drum transcriptions, and assists with production.
